Task: Planning, Design, and Installation of Three Roof Work Platform Strands for Trams

Execution: 2019

Bremer Straßenbahn AG commissioned Blumenbecker with the planning, design, and installation of three roof work platform strands for trams in the newly built hall. Initially, only one vehicle model was to be repaired and maintained here. However, the decision was made to adapt the roof work platforms to accommodate two different models. The subsequently planned gap bridging required good coordination between both sides. Additionally, the customer wanted a platform without a support structure. All of this had to be taken into account during the planning process.

The Performance:

The result was a steel construction with a controllable gap bridging. At Blumenbecker, this type of gap bridging is also called the "bone principle." At the push of a button, the gap bridging, a kind of footboard, horizontally swivels along the entire length of the steel construction towards the vehicle and automatically stops the approach movement via a contact strip.

At the end of 2019, the new service hall was inaugurated. Since then, trams have been maintained on three tracks.

The Advantages:

Blumenbecker delivers the complete package consisting of planning, design, and installation. By developing individual solutions, Blumenbecker not only builds systems but also advises customers.

The electronic control of these systems plays a special role, as there are various dependencies between the drives and the contact strips, as well as the activation of the overhead line and access technology.

At the same time, robust mechanical solutions ensure smooth operation around the clock, as the maintenance and inspection of modern trains and locomotives place ever higher demands on the throughput times in the railway works.

"Blumenbecker is reliable and competent. For years, we have maintained a good and trustworthy partnership. Blumenbecker has kept pace with our development. Through good coordination, Blumenbecker has found solutions that fit us and our needs perfectly. You know what you get: quality at a fair price."
